Temporary Summer Grounds & Maintenance Help

The Fairgrounds looking for grounds crew with some experience working with small machinery; lawn mower, tractors, hi-lift, fork lift, etc. This job is an temporary Summer job.

SKILLS/BACKGROUND: Personnel of the Summer Grounds Crew must be able to follow instructions closely and develop a variety of skills through on-the-job training. Experience in lawn care, painting, maintenance, and carpentry is helpful.

DUTIES: (include but are not limited to)
1. Keep fairgrounds mowed, weeded and washed down throughout the summer.
2. Complete all paint projects as needed.
3. Prepare facilities for Fair including setting up cow stanchions in the Sue Durrer and Youth Dairy Barns, curtains systems in Main Building, Convention Center, the Floral Department, and the 4-H Style Review.
4. Clean all buildings including Pari-Mutuel, Information Booth, and Main Building prior to Fair.
5. Put up informational signs and buntings prior to Fair.
6. Stripe Parking Lots prior to Fair.
7. Help with sound and lights during the Fair.
8. Clean-up fairgrounds after the Fair including taking down and storing signs, stanchions and buntings.
9. Prepare Fairgrounds for off-season usage.

WORKING HOURS: Workdays for the regular 40-hour workweek are Monday through Friday.

During the week prior to Fair, Fair week, and the week after the Fair, the workweek extends through Saturday and Sunday and the workdays tend to be longer than eight hours.

Part-time Maintenance

The Fairgrounds is looking to hire for a part-time maintenance person who will work under the direct supervision of the maintenance manager. In the absence of the fair manager the maintenance manager is supervised by the Fair board. The position of Part-Time Maintenance person includes responsibility for care of grounds, buildings and maintenance.

SKILLS/BACKGROUND: The position of Part-Time Maintenance person requires skills and knowledge in janitorial work and of janitorial products. The right applicant should have some knowledge of plumbing, wiring, general maintenance and carpentry. Flexible schedule, some weekends

DUTIES: (include but are not limited to)

1. Perform indoor and outdoor janitorial work as needed.
2. Keep all facilities clean and ready for rent.
3. Care and repair of fencing, gates, doors, tables and chairs.
4. Assist in repair and maintenance of buildings.
5. Monitor and keep organized tools and paint.

WORKING HOURS: Base schedule is 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Hours will vary during the annual fair to meet needs.
