Live Pari-Mutuel Horse Racing will be again providing fun, excitement and a chance to wager during the Tillamook County Fair. There will be eight races on Thursday and Friday and nine races on Saturday. Post time will be 1:00 p.m. each day. Purses will be higher this year thanks to the Oregon Racing Commission increasing their support and eight businesses and families sponsoring feature races. Fifteen races will have $2,500 purses, five will have $3,000 purses, two will have $3,500 purses and one will have a $4,000 purse. In addition, one Quarter Horse Race will have a purse of $2,750 and H.B.P.A. will again sponsor the Oregon HBPA Open with a purse of $4,700.00 plus an added fee that could make it a $5,000.00 purse. An excellent field of horses to wager on for this year's Race Meet is expected because of the higher purses being offered to owners and because jockey's will be competing for bonus money from the Oregon Racing Commission for participating in the Race Meet.
