The Tillamook County Fair Board consists of five citizens appointed by the County Commissioners. They oversee and set policy for the annual fair and year round operations of the fairgrounds. The Fair Board is very active and its members volunteer their services throughout the year. They hire the staff to operate the fairgrounds on a daily basis.


Jack DeSwart is President. Jack is semi-retired and drives truck for R & R Dairy. He and his wife, Jeanne live in Tillamook. Jack works closely with the dairy exhibitors and oversees the carnival. He helps to set up the arena for the demolition derby and grandstand shows. The Fair Board used some of his equipment during construction of the new grandstand.

Mel Tupper is Vice-President. Mel is retired from the Tillamook County Creamery Association and lives in Tillamook with his wife, Debbie. Mel oversees horse racing operations, he helps to set up the arena for the demolition derby and grandstand shows.

Doug Doyle is Secretary. He is an electrician for Clatsop Electric and donated all of his labor on the new grandstand. Doug is Entertainment Director and has lined up terrific grandstand acts, a wide variety of courtyard entertainment and walk-around acts. Doug also helps to coordinate the Talent Show.

Rita Hogan. Rita is married to husband, Dave and together they own and operate Misty Meadow Dairy in Tillamook. This will be Rita's first fair and she will be working closely with Open Class superintendents to ensure a great fair. Rita also helps to coordinate the Talent Show and she is the contact person for any 4-H or FFA matters including the Junior Livestock Auction.

Nick Steiner is retired and lives in Idaville with his wife, Myrna. This will be Nick's first fair and he will be working closely with the other Fair Board members in all aspects of the fair. Nick represents the Fair Board on the committee working to build a new multi-purpose Livestock Pavillion on the fairgrounds.

Eileen Aufdermauer lives in Tillamook with her husband Ken and is in her eighth year as the office secretary. Eileen's responsibilities continue to grow as Off-Season usage increases. Preparation for the annual fair keeps Eileen busy year-round.

Jerry Underwood is the fairgrounds' full-time manager. Jerry lives in Garibaldi with his wife, Sally. Jerry began as a volunteer in 1991 and is now in charge of the day-to-day operations of the fairgrounds. This will be Jerry's 18th fair.
